IPAN is a non-governmental organisation and run solely on donations received from local people, visitors to the shelter and from some donors abroad. At present, IPAN has a permanent staff of 15 including one full time vet and it is headed by its managing trustee, Nigel Otter - locally born and a well-known animal activist in India . IPAN works in conjunction with many animal welfare organisations in India including the Animal Welfare Board of India.
IPAN has recently been invited and has joined the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) as a member.
The average cost of running the shelter and the outreach programs for the community including veterinary medicines and supplies for the animal hospital and the jeep ambulance and all staff salaries and wages comes to Rs. 1-1.5 lakhs per month. All donations are gratefully accepted and we welcome donors to visit the shelter, meet the animals and observe our daily activities, if they are passing through this beautiful area.
